Client Computer / Network Questions

What is a VPN?

A virtual private network (VPN) is a mechanism for creating a secure connection between a computing device and a computer network, or between two networks, using an unsecure communication medium such as the public Internet. Roghnu uses the Fortinet FortiClient product for connecting to our direct database service.

What is a Site-To-Site VPN?

A Site-To-Site VPN is a persistent connection between Roghnu and a customer’s domain / firewall. This connection allows a user or a system user to connect without using the desktop VPN. There is an additional fee to set up and manage the Site-To-Site VPN.

What is required for the client to set up to support the Roghnu Data Portal direct database access solution?

Clients require the installation of the Fortinet Forti Client VPN application to each computer that will be accessing the Roghnu Data Vault. Using the VPN application is required to access the data securely. Installation requires Admin rights on the computer. Roghnu provides all the documentation to set up the connection.

Is the VPN a split tunnel VPN?

The Roghnu VPN is a split tunnel and works well with existing customer VPN needs. If there are issues with the VPN, we may require the customer to contact their IT department / MSP to help establish the connection based on the customer’s security protocols.

Can a Site-To-Site VPN be set up?

Yes, there is an option to establish a Site-To-Site VPN connection. Roghnu network engineers work with our client’s technical resources to create the setup.

Is an Okta subscription required?

No. Our clients leverage the Roghnu Okta subscription which allows for the setup of secure groups enabling clients to have admin rights to add and remove their own users.
