How to Reset a User’s Password in OKTA
This guide provides a step-by-step process for resetting a user's password in the Roghnu OKTA Admin Portal, ensuring secure and efficient user management.
Step 1: Log Into OKTA
Go to roghnu.okta.com.
Enter your OKTA "Username" and "Password" and click "Sign In".
Step 2: Access Admin Features
- After logging in, click the "Admin" button to enter the customer administrator section.
Step 3: Complete Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
- Choose your preferred MFA method.
- Click "Send Code" to receive the MFA code via your selected method (e.g., email, SMS, Google Authenticator).
- Enter the code in the "Enter Code" box and click "Verify".
Step 4: Navigate to the Users List
- Once logged in, you’ll start on the Dashboard page.
- Click the "Users" link to view your company’s user list.
Step 5: Select the User to Reset Password
- On the People page, you’ll see all users—active, pending, and deactivated.
- Click on the name of the user whose password you need to reset to open their detailed user page.
Step 6: Reset the User’s Password
On the user’s detail page, click the "Reset Password" button.
Choose the appropriate password reset method:
- Reset Password Link: Sends an email with a password reset link.
- Temporary Password: Generates a temporary password that you can securely provide to the user.
Note: If the user is having trouble receiving the email confirmation, use the Temporary Password option and securely share the password with the user.
Step 7: Return to the User List
- After resetting the password, you’ll be returned to the main People list page. You can make any further updates as needed.
Step 8: Sign Out
- After completing your updates, remember to sign out by clicking on your account name in the upper right-hand corner.
